Our Goal

Life Skills Education

According to UNICEF, Life Skills are defined as “a broad group of skills, particularly interpersonal, that can help make informed decisions, communicate effectively and develop coping and self-management skills likely to contribute to a healthy and productive life.
Life skills programs for adolescents, girls or boys, aim to develop their knowledge and skills, while promoting their empowerment and resilience.
Life skills development is a social and behavior change (SBC) strategy that can be used in various programs such as: human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevention, economic empowerment, health sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, employment readiness, livelihoods, education, citizenship, peacebuilding and prevention of child marriage, etc.
In terms of Life Skills education, the TBF237 approach is structured around 04 components: Positive Mindset or Personal Development or Psycho-emotional Skills (i); Leadership skills (ii); Employability skills (iii) and Skills guaranteeing Health (iv) :

  1. personal development : this component aims to develop self-awareness in young people through skills such as: self-confidence and self-esteem, assertive communication, time management and personal planning, vision for the future
  2. Leadership and citizenship : this component aims to stimulate among young people a sense of responsibility regarding the societal issues that undermine their environment. The following skills are targeted: Public speaking; Personal organization; Conflict management ; Causes and Mission of life; Commitment to the Climate; Citizen engagement and democracy; Positive influence on social networks
  3. Employability Skills : this component consists of equipping young people for successful socio-professional integration in a job market where diplomas alone are no longer enough. Young people receive numerous equipment relating in particular to: Professional project; Creation of AGR and Entrepreneurship; Basic professional skills (CV, cover letter, job interview, etc.); Teamwork ; Financial education
  4. Sexuality education and protection against abuse : many young people are increasingly exposed to risky sexual behavior due to poor management of social media, the proliferation of pornography through digital technology, and generalized moral decay. It is therefore crucial to provide adolescents with the basic skills and knowledge necessary to make informed decisions about their sexuality, take appropriate care of their intimate hygiene, particularly during periods, and protect themselves from risky behaviors. and abuse.
